Toon Hermans house in Weert wins a ventilation system
Ideal air quality
During the renovation of the Toon Hermans House in Weert - two years ago - decent ventilation was barely considered. "This is unfortunate but not unusual," says John Gaikhorst, project manager at RenovAir. "Ventilation is unfortunately still all too often neglected." The result is of course that the walk-in centre now relies on natural ventilation. Interduct is going to change all that. An appropriate ventilation system will be installed on each floor, to ensure ideal and constant air quality throughout the house. Heat-exchanger systems will also ensure that most of the energy is recovered. Project manager Zoë Thomassen: "We are certain that this ventilation solution will have a positive effect on the air quality in the Toon Hermans House in Weert." The work has been carefully and jointly planned to ensure minimal impact on daily activities.
40 years of Interduct
At Interduct, 2024 is dedicated to celebrating the 40th anniversary of the corporate group. Among other internal and external actions, for Indoor Climate Day it was decided to give away a ventilation system, worth EUR 10,000 including installation, to an organisation that could really use it. From the five nominated organisations, a whopping 46% of the voters chose the Toon Hermans House in Weert. Chairman Gio de Monte: "I think it's a great initiative. And we are so grateful that it was given to us." To make sure everything stayed within budget, RenovAir started discussions with suppliers. Successfully. John: "Zehnder even gifted us a unit. We are very grateful for that." "And Tops Luchtfilters is providing filters for the first year," adds Zoë. Both said how thrilled they were to be able to help the Toon Hermans House in this way.
Toon Hermans House
The Toon Hermans House in Weert provides a space for everyone who, in one way or another, is dealing with cancer. Bertien Nijnens, coordinator at the Toon Hermans House in Weert, explains: "We not only offer a listening ear, we also organise and run activities that provide distraction and relaxation. These may be things like workshops, discussion groups, wellness activities, walking groups and themed meetings." To do all this, the foundation depends entirely on donations and volunteers. In this, they are supported by industry associations IPSO and KWF, among others. Scattered across the Netherlands, there are 100 IPSO walk-in centres that advocate for psychosocial care for people with cancer and their loved ones. Would you like more information?
