Project Aan de Tump en Op de Berg
Aan de Tump and Op de Berg are two new residential buildings for elderly people with intellectual disabilities requiring intensive care in the Limburg village of Heel. With 38 apartments in total they replace the old De Lichtenberg site on the grounds of the Daelzicht care organisation, a quiet area with plenty of greenery. In addition to the apartments, each residential group includes a communal living room and kitchen. There are also relaxation rooms along the corridors and a courtyard garden.
Last summer - July 2024 - 19 clients moved into Aan de Tump. The plan is for the future residents of Op de Berg to be able to move in during summer 2025. Horst-based contractor Peters Bouw en Onderhoud asked Interduct to install the ventilation systems in the apartments and the communal areas of both residential care buildings.

Mix of residential and non-residential construction
"A mix of residential ventilation and small utilities," is what work planner Rik Maes sees as the most notable feature of the project. In the apartments, Interduct company Rodrie installed a mechanical ventilation device (DocuBox Focus) that controls both humidity and CO2. The apartments have a combined bed/sitting room, a storage area and a bathroom and are modest in size. Therefore, one unit for every two apartments is enough. "Through control valves, the air volume can still be controlled for each flat," Rik explains. The fresh air is supplied using façade grilles.
In the offices and communal areas, three air treatment units (Swegon) provide fresh air in each residential building. They are also driven by CO2 levels. In the communal living rooms, air pockets, or air socks, ensure an even distribution of the air. All in all, definitely not a standard project, concludes Rik. "The combination of air treatment units and individual ventilation units makes it a special project."

The power of collaboration
Rodrie is responsible in this project for designing the ventilation system and - in the case of Aan de Tump - also for implementing it. A partner is installing for Op de Berg. Several Interduct Group companies are involved in this project. For Aan de Tump, for example, Robé is supplying all the flat ducts, the external air grilles and the rectangular ductwork for the common areas. A number of fittings and the round ductwork come from VentTrade. Robé is also supplying the flat ducts and external air grilles for the air treatment units for Op de Berg. This way we work together to create a healthy indoor climate for residents and staff in the two residential care buildings.
