Project LOYD
While the waters of the river Waal rippled calmly past, building services company G. van Dam and Van de Klok Bouw were building - on the north side of the river - a luxury apartment complex. It offers accommodation for 78 families or singles looking to settle in a quiet area close to Nijmegen's lively city centre. The view across the water and the city skyline is beautiful, but also offers a glimpse of multiple factors that impact air quality. Incidentally, that was not the only reason why the client sought an experienced ventilation expert: ventilation contributes to a sustainable, healthy and comfortable indoor climate. And that, of course, is a necessary part of life in a luxury complex like LOYD.

The best of the best
A luxury home needs a luxury ventilation system. Therefore, Zehnder Q350 / Q450 units combined with CO2 sensors in the living room and bedrooms were selected for this project. This system is fully demand-controlled, extremely quiet and has high heat recovery. To complete the look and feel, the entire installation has been finished with precision: luxury Luna valves conceal the intake and extraction points, and a number of pipes have been fitted with thicker insulation material and a coating. "An installation with partially coated channels is relatively complex, as the pipes are made to measure. That is precision work," says project manager Berry van Hout, "but the result is definitely worth it." Residents and visitors are also assured of good air quality in indoor passageways. Here, ventilation using mechanical supply and natural extraction was chosen. This means that natural overpressure discharges polluted air to the outside through riser ducts, while the room refills with clean air.

The power of collaboration
Commissioned by Van de Klok Bouw, Installatiebedrijf G. van Dam took on the drawing work and responsibility for installation. To install the ventilation, they again chose to work with Rodrie, who can take care of this completely. While the fitters focused on the necessary preparations, we engaged Robé for the production and delivery of the powder coated roof channels, roof cowls and flat ducts, among other things. The non-bespoke products that we sourced included some from VentTrade (riser ducts) and Zehnder (units and valves). With these products and components, the installed ventilation system became a reality, completely matching what the purchasers wanted. This is how we worked together to create a sustainable, healthy and comfortable indoor climate for the residents of LOYD in Lent.
