Project Wederikstraat
Housing association Woonforte's corridor apartment building got a major upgrade. This encompasses both cosmetic features like new balcony railings, privacy screens and a paint job and the energy provision. Under the leadership of head contractor ERA Contour, the construction team replaced the windows, doors and glass, improved the roof insulation and installed a new ventilation system with heat recovery in every apartment. The result? Lower energy bills, clean indoor air and improved living comfort.
VentilatieService - part of the Interduct Group since February 2025 - was responsible for installing this system. In cooperation with ERA Contour, the plan was drafted, a pilot apartment was realised and interim evaluations were carried out throughout the project, as project coordinator Mike Hooft explains. “The engineering, drawings and structural design were carried out entirely in-house."
Ceiling-mounted heat recovery unit
The heat recovery unit (Brink Renovent Sky 300) was fitted with an enthalpy exchanger, due to the limited options for a condensate drain. This exchanger keeps the humidity in balance. The unit hangs from the ceiling in the kitchen, concealed above a dropped ceiling. This was the best solution on a technical and practical level according to Mike. "From the unit, two insulated ducts for supply and return air pass through the external wall. This ensures the distance is as short as possible."
For the airflow, VentilatieService uses flexible plastic ducts from Ubbink (the Air Excellent system). Ducts pass from the kitchen, to the living room, bedroom, bathroom and toilet. A clever arrangement ensures they are fitted completely out of sight. "The layout of the apartments is quite complex," says Mike. "That made it quite a puzzle at times."
The power of collaboration
VentilatieService provided all expertise for this project, from design to delivery. During the execution, an unexpected challenge arose: a fire around the new year reduced the construction site to ashes. This caused delays and rescheduling. The restart required scaling up to make up for lost time. With five men - two pairs of technicians and a foreman - VentilatieService was able to deliver two apartments a day. Improvisation, tight organisation and good teamwork ensured that residents are still guaranteed a sustainable, healthy and comfortable indoor climate.
