Project Plantage
BAM Wonen is improving the sustainability levels of four apartment buildings owned by housing association Pré Wonen in Beverwijk. This involves the builder installing better insulation and ventilation, improving the energy rating of the rental properties to A, B, or C. Of the 90 apartments, 27 were found to be equipped with an MV unit at the time of registration. Why not just dispose of them? No way! BAM Wonen is committed to sustainability and focuses strongly on waste prevention in its projects.
RenovAir is involved in the project as a permanent co-maker. The offer to accept the units, refurbish them where possible, and reuse them comes at just the right time. Pré Wonen is also enthusiastic. The mechanical-ventilation units removed from homes in Beverwijk and intended for re-manufacture will therefore be sent to homes in Haarlem. That is a subsequent project involving 62 apartments, with which the 3 parties are once again involved.
Disassembling devices for re-manufacturing
RenovAir is installing a new ventilation system from Itho Daalderop (CVE-S Optima 2) in all 90 homes. Two CO2 sensors – in the master bedroom and living room – make the system demand-driven, so that ventilation is provided according to the occupant’s needs, ensuring a constant supply of fresh air.
Meanwhile, all dismantled mechanical-ventilation units are inspected by Interduct. Interduct knows from experience which components in ventilation devices often break down. By replacing these, the appliance can be returned to a home after refurbishment. “Every box we get re-manufactured is one we don't throw away”, says project manager Nina Remmers of RenovAir. “This is more sustainable and better for the environment. And we all really support that.”
The power of collaboration
RenovAir is responsible for dismantling the old MV units and installing the new ventilation systems for the project in Beverwijk. Robé supplies the ductwork for this, and auxiliary and connecting parts come from the central warehouse in Ittervoort. Within Interduct, business developer Rogér Keijsers is responsible for the re-manufacturing process. He already receives dozens of devices every month, but market demand is growing rapidly. Using cooperation and economies of scale, Interduct is able to serve its clients in this area. This helps us contribute to a healthy indoor climate and give these systems a new lease of life.
